HORRIFYING!!

You guys may have already heard this...this is racism to the core, purportedly in the disguise of fun. Radio jockeys from Phily's power 99 station called this call center girl and intentionally abused her.

Here is the audio and here is the transcript. I was shocked to hear this. I myself have had jobs as telephone survey interviewers wherein we call people and conduct surveys, (not the telemarketing kind, mind you) from ASU. I sure can imagine how this girl might have felt during this whole conversation....

Well and truly this issue did elicit a huge uproar in the desi blogging community and chain letters have been submitted to the station. The manager has replied though stating that everything has been taken care of and they regret this incident. However the perpetrators are yet scot free...here's how u can vent your feelings on this issue to the station...

On one of the blogs, this guy says the girl continually addresses the RJ as ma'am and that might have pissed him off...

"I'm convinced this DJ got pissed off because the Indian woman taking the call persisted in calling him ma'am. Y'know... his manhood and all!! haha. Go, Indian woman..."

oh c'mon give me a break, the way the RJ was talking right from the start he just needed somebody on the other end! Believe me, in such a situation it is tough to maintain composure and you can end up doing what she did and I think despite that she did a terrific job in letting him know that if he continued to do so she will have to disconnect. Anyone else might have disconnected right away. I believe she did as trained and acted professionally.

Well, hope the station atleast issues a public apology for this...

MA KCAB!!

brothers, comrades and sisters...me back after a short (!?) hiatus.
Well as a matter of fact I had completely forgotten that I had a blogspot account!! Was "reminded" by Rahul's blog!
neways...I guess everyone is saturated with the news all around about the tsunamis...
SHOCK, SURPRISE, WTF....jus few of the reactions of the news about tsunami...
I just hope the needy and affected people get all help they need and more...the media here in the US is constantly carrying their extensive coverage of the aid effort et al...
Yesterday on CBS, in "60 Minutes" Dan Rather went on a mission to the Aceh Province, covering the US aid effort. He was praising the US army for undertaking the mission. The media also mentions the amount of money US has pledged for the same....BUT check this one out.
It is truly shocking...the total amount pledged for the aid effort is equal to the amount spent every 1.5 days in the Iraq war!! Do the math...mind boggling!!
just shows how vested the US interests are in various parts of the world...hmmmmm

On another note...Wired magazine carried this article on how tech savvy the cops in India are...
well lets make no mistake about this...just because they cannot differentiate between monitor and the actual computer they are NOT stupid. However, atleast the cyber sleuths need to know this difference and more...apparently they dont I guess, what with the Bazee.com CEO issue...
hmm India IS a diverse country after all!!

Well I do hope to blog regularly...so ciao only for now
